Adventure in Essex
There has always been an appetite in some people for doing something more adventurous in sport than just kicking a football around a field. However, adventure sports like mountain climbing or white water rafting tended to be the preserve of the rich. Things have changed and now adventure sports are within the reach of almost anyone. The last 50 years especially has seen a rapid growth in the popularity adventure sports. What is an adventure sport? It can take the form of anything from hang gliding to a full blown Antarctic Ice Marathon. It often involves hard physical activity, but not always. Adventure sports will also more than likely carry an element of risk. But efforts to minimise these risks to personal safety are very stringent at well organised clubs and venues. It is obviously a good idea to seek out accredited clubs and organisations to minimise the danger of personal injury, or even death. There has even been a club, founded in the late 1970s, dedicated to the pursuit of adventure sports. Called the Dangerous Sports Club, the group was active in the lateĀ 70s and early 80s for about ten years. While the heading adventure sports covers a myriad of different activities there is one common denominator in all of them - adrenaline!
