Latest reviews | Events in Bromley
It may be best known for its excellent shopping but Bromley, situated on the edge of Greater London, enjoys acres of lovely gardens, parks, lakes and woodlands. Here is a town that caters for all tastes and ages. Children love scrambling round the Adventure Kingdom, and they have lots of playgrounds. Kids and adults are equally served by the Churchill Theatre, hosting a lively programme of plays, musicals, concerts, tea parties, comedy and panto, and the Pavilion Leisure Centre offers indoor sporting activities for all the family. In the great outdoors, fishing, golf, tennis, bowls and walking are popular. Experienced walkers may take any number of rambles through the surrounding countryside while, in the town itself, visitors are spoilt for choice with Bromley Church House Gardens, Hollydale Recreation Ground, Kingswood Glen, Martin's Hill, Queen's Gardens and South Hill Wood. Bromley - only 12 miles from central London - is a gateway to Kent's beautiful Garden of England. It's close to the former North Downs home of scientist and writer Charles Darwin: the Grade 1-listed Down House has wonderful grounds comprising gardens, woods and meadows. Crystal Palace Park, with its Dinosaur area and maze, makes for another fascinating day trip.
