The stunning area is ideal for walkers and lovers of beauty, with the close proximity of Buttermere, Ennerdale and Crummock lakes. A few miles will find the town of Cockermouth, birthplace of Wordsworth, and the Georgian Town House where he was born houses intriguing treasures that tell their own story, outside the enchanting garden enhances this captivating destination. Or there is The Printing Museum which has a cache of delights explaining the history of printing since the 15th Century. Or perhaps the nautical memorabilia on offer at the Steamship Museum will please as it takes her visitor on an absorbing voyage explaining the history of steam ships, take a tour around The Flying Buzzard or see what VIC 96 has to share…… Or how about The Maritime Museum which has models, paintings and so much more. For lovers of creatures there is the Lake District Coast Aquarium that has fish by the shoal, or maybe a tour around Jennings Brewery will hit the spot, 175 years of brewing is proudly explained and a chance to sample a glass or two is not to be missed.
