Located on the A14 about 19 miles (30km) north west of Cambridge on the River Great Ouse, Godmanchester is a great place for tourists to visit or stop on your journey; to get a meal and take a relaxing stroll along the river or around Portholme, England's largest meadow. Godmanchester is a town not a village as it was Chartered in 1212 and has been a place of constant human habitation for over 2000 years. The central streets are aligned with the Roman Mansio, The Causeway waterfront was developed by the Vikings for their longboats and the conservation area is rich in Timber Framed Houses. It is flat and easily accessible to pushchairs and those with limited mobility (within the town and along the river)
