Shoreham is a coastal town in Sussex, home to over nineteen thousand people, it dates back to Saxon times and was famed for it's ship building and Harbour trade. The glorious Sussex Downs and bracing coastal paths will keep walkers happy, and Artists may choose their spot many times over with colourful yachts and boats on the River Adur and the busy port of Shoreham Harbour. There's evocative architecture with the Norman church of St Mary De Haura which dominates the town centre, to the Saxon church of St Nicholas. Shoreham Airport has helicopters and planes landing and taking off the Art Deco wonder has appeared in Tenko, Poirot, and even the Da Vinci Code, or perhaps take to the air on a pleasure flight, for those who prefer to keep feet firmly on the ground the Airport Museum has treasures to share from WWII and D Day. If the sun is up take the plunge with a dip in the sea, or walk along Shoreham beach to discover the Napoleonic Fort, for architecture of a different kind there is always the ruins at Bramber Castle, or for splendour Arundel Castle has sumptuous rooms, intriguing history, and beautiful grounds. Or the busy and vibrant City of Brighton and Hove is nearby with a diverse array of temptations.
