Oxted is a town in the county of Surrey just south of Croydon, delightfully placed at the foot of the North Downs for a definite link with the countryside and the North Downs Way and is home to nearly eleven thousand people. The town has many attractive buildings that date back several centuries, not least the church of St Mary’s that has stood proudly for the last 900 years. Spring Lane Pond has graceful swans that glide magically through the water, and is an artists delight, or maybe the challenge of the Old Mill will be taken up, Britain’s oldest windmill Outwood is still producing flour. Built in 1665 soars 39’ from the ground, set within beautiful woodland with Nature Trails, complete with play area, friendly rabbits, ducks and geese, what more could possibly be asked for….. For Drama and Musicals The Barn Theatre has two hundred and forty four seats to choose from whilst enjoying the varied entertainment. Or for an insight into Winston Churchill a tour around Chartwell shares many of his personal items just as they were left, and gives a glimpse into his life. Or perhaps 17th Century Squerrey’s Court will be first choice, a magnificent Manor House that has sumptuous interiors, set within 20 acres of historic gardens complete with lake that wont fail to impress the most discerning visitor.
