Conon Bridge is a small village in the Highlands of Scotland situated on the south bank of the River Conon at the western end of the Cromarty Firth. Conon Bridge is within commuting distance from the city of Inverness with Dingwall being the nearest town. In 1801 Thomas Telford built a five arched bridge in Conon Bridge of which the toll house remains although the bridge was replaced to suit the growing amount of traffic of the A9 road to the north. The village has a store, post office, hairdressing salons, a bar and a hotel. Conon Bridge has picturesque scenery, walking trails, fishing facilities and is set in an excellent location with many attractions and activities nearby including many restaurants, cafes, hotels and holiday accommodation. On the Cromary Firth there is the smallest car ferry in Scotland, the ‘Cromarty Rose’ operates seasonally between Cromarty and Nigg. Dingwall has a museum with information on the local heritage, and there are some interesting 18th century buildings, including the Town House. The local Traditional Highland Music Festival and Highland Games are held in the summer. The Black Isle Brewery is a working brewery close by and at Muir of Ord is the Glen Ord Distillery.
