Oxwich is a pretty seaside village set on the stunning Gower Peninsular in South West Wales, and it is home to nearly three hundred people. The village dates back many centuries to the Iron and Bronze Age Settlers who first lived nearby, and later, a legacy of which remains with the 16th Century Tudor Manor House. Oxwich was a favourite haunt of Smugglers and Wreckers in the 18th and 19th Centuries because of the close proximity of the wide sweeping Oxwich Bay. The village sits at the western edge of the Bay where the golden sandy beach stretches for nearly three miles, above the beach the ancient church of St Illtud stands amongst the dappled shade of trees. Walkers, swimmers and surfers swell the population with the beautiful cliff top walks that journey through woodland to Oxwich Point. The narrow winding lanes are edged with attractive thatched cottages and houses which were once home to the Quarrymen who quarried Linmestone from the nearby headland at Oxwich Point. Visitors will wish to linger in the attractive location which has an essential shop and cafe, welcoming pub and craft shop, and for those visitors who wish to stay there's pretty cottages, hotels, B&B's and even a caravan park to enjoy.
