Llanfairfechan is a sedate and unspoilt seaside town situated between the city of Bangor and Llandudno in Conwy, North Wales, home to just over three and a half thousand people. It nestles at the base of Penmaenmawr Mountain and has an interesting history from the first settlers who came here seven thousand years ago, a legacy of which can be seen after a short stroll along the track by the chapel which will unveil the remains of an ancient Iron Age Settlement. The Afon Ddu runs through the village which has terraces of houses built from local stone and whitewashed cottages dating back in time lining the roads. There are shops in Village Road and Station Road, together with a choice of pubs and Inns, and a restaurant with tempting morsels on the menu. The soft sandy beach has stunning views to Puffin Island which always draws visitors and holiday makers alike just as it has since the fashionable Victorian's discovered its charm. There is a promenade complete with superb cafe, and a church dedicated to St Mary which was built in 1864 whose tall spire graces the skyline. There is a pleasing choice of places to stay from b&b's, to hotels and as it is only a short hop from the ferry to the Emerald Isle it is conveniently placed.
