Crosby is a coastal suburb of Merseyside in Liverpool, positioned on the edge of the Irish Sea. The town has a rich maritime history at its very core, from the Viking raiders who first came here, to the seafaring connections with the Titanic. From an amalgamation of smaller villages the town grew and prospered, in the 19th Century it was renowned for its sea bathing and soon became a popular destination. Today's visitors will find an eclectic mix of architecture which lines the streets, and impressive sandy beaches which stretch for miles. Whether its swimming, strolling along the promenade with a brisk sea breeze for company, or to admire the unforgettable sight of the thought provoking Iron Men sculptures that gaze out to sea, visitors are well rewarded. There are pubs offering music or real ale, an abundance of places to stay, from traditional B&B's to modern hotels which may be needed as the choice of shops will be tempting, and with the close proximity of Liverpool City Centre being just six miles or so it may take a while. There is a Marina, Lake, and several attractive parks that come complete with views over to Wales, and rich woodland trails to explore.
