Matthew Flinders

Born 1774 (Donington). Died 1814 - English explorer.
Naval officer and hydrographer. Surveyed the coast of New South Wales and the strait between Australia and Tasmania. Flinders River in Queensland and the Flinders Ranges in South Australia are named after him.
