Educated at St Hugh’s College, Oxford. Made her conducting debut at Wexford Festival in 1975. Has conducted orchestras worldwide. Made her first appearance at Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 1988. Presented television programmes including Orchestra (1983) and Mozart (1985).
