Born 1916 - New York, USA. Died 1999 - British violinist.

Appeared as soloist with San Francisco Symphony Orchestra at age of seven. Recorded Elgar’s Violin Concerto, conducted by composer, in 1932. Settled in England after WWII, began conducting in 1957. Founded the Yehudi Menuhin School of Music in 1963. Awarded honorary KBE in 1965, Order of Merit in 1987. Became British citizen in 1985, made life peer in 1993.
