Died on 14th of November 1914

Born 1832 - Cawnpore, India. Died 1914 - English field marshal.

Won the VC at Khudagani in 1858. His action in the Second Afghan War led to Afghan defeat. Commander-in-Chief in India from 1885 to 1893. Became field marshal and Commander-in-Chief in Ireland in 1895. In chief command in Second Boer War. Created earl in 1901. Retired in 1904, died while visiting troops in France.
