Born 1753. Died 1828 - Scottish philosopher.

Succeeded his father as Professor of Moral Philosophy at Edinburgh University (1775). Regarded as a great teacher and lecturer. Best known work is Elements of the Philosophy of the Human Mind (3 volumes 1792, 1814, 1827).
