Best rates for a Local Hotel

Avoid this so called hotel at all costs. We took my elderly mother out to Christmas day lunch as a very special treat for her 85th birthday. Let me say that the meal was a disaster. We waited 75 minutes between the first course and the second and 30 minutes after ordering the dessert. The standard of service was off-hand and not particularly polite. The food was dished up on the plate and not served at the table or in seperate dishes. At best it was like school dinners. We felt the Salvation Army were probably serving better Christmas fare to tramps on the streets of London. The room was just an empty hall with tables and a few flashing lights strung from the ceiling. After two hours mother was in tears and just wanted to go home.

Room - poorly refurbished; white paint splashed about, old broken mattress, mouldy shower, holes in the bathroom walls, funny smell in the bathroom, food from previous guest(s) down the side of the bed. The room was directly above the bar area and therefore excedingly noisy until at least 1am. Food - bar snacks were expensive considering the quality and quantity of the food. Breakfast was not freshly prepared (probably kept warm on a hotplate since start of service at 8am) and none of the tables had been cleared after previous guests when we came down to breakfast around 9.45am. Staff - we had to FIND someone to check us in, bar staff were not particularly helpful or courteous. When we asked the person on reception for a taxi to be called on our day of departure, we were told to wait in the bar where coffee would be brought to us and we'd be told when the taxi arrived. No coffee arrived and we eventually went to look for our taxi it had been waiting for us for 10-15 minutes. Overall, I would say that this is the worst hotel, in all areas, I have ever stayed in. The fact that we paid over £100 for staying there just adds insult to injury. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
