Best rates for a Local Hotel

Stayed on a Sunday evening before flying from Gatwick. Seemed like a decent size hotel so didn't ask whether it had a bar or not but when we arrived there is a bar which is not owned by the hotel therefore because it is in a high street we were unable to take children in which isn't in the literature. We therefore had no where to go accept the room, this was very spacious for a family room but very hot and the TV didn't work very well. Could not here adjacent rooms but road noise at the rear was quite noticable. I chose this hotel because it had onsite parking for the duration of our holiday. We didn't realise that this was totally unsecure and next to a busy hand care wash and main road so if you don't want scratches on your car I would opt for off site parking instead, seems more of a hassle but I feel its worth it. Breakfast was ok and rooms very clean and more than acceptable for one nights stay. Price was very reasonable.

Good Points: It was quiet - you could hear people walking in the corridor, but not people from adjacent rooms, making for a peaceful night Bad Points: My personal preference is for duvets, not sheets and blankets

we stayed at the hotel overnight with 8 days parking. Firstly the fact that you are gooing on holiday and have suitcases and then given a third floor room and no lift was not a good start. We arranged for return pick up from the airport and was advised that we telephone upon picking up are cases. This we did. We then had to wait an hour and half to be picked up , the only transport this hotel offers is a car there were 9 people waiting to be collected all of whom had waited the same amount of time. The car only took 4 people and then there would be another 40 minute wait. I advised the driver that this was totally inadequate and he went off to another hotel to borrow a minibus, this only took 7 people and 2 other people were then left waiting a further 40 odd minutes to be collected from the airport making their waiting time 3 hours. Upon returning to the hotel our car was blocked in and the hotel had no idea as to whom the car belonged (we thought this to be secure parking!!_) It then took a further hour before we could leave the hotel and this was only through the efforts of the taxi driver and a vistor to the hotel that we managed to leave. We could have been totally stranded at the hotel until whoevers car was blocking ours came back which could have been the next day. I would most definately not recommend this facility to any of my friends or relatives.
