My wife and myself were invited by my brother to the Lough Pool Inn for lunch to celebrate his 70th Birthday, together with 12 other members of the family and some friends. The ambiance of the Inn was excellent, lovely atmospheric old building and good selection of ales and wines. Unfortunately the meal did not live up to the initial impression. The starters were adequate, but the main course was a great disappointment, with tough slices of both lamb and beef which had in many cases been undercooked, and had obviously not been the best quality at the outset. The dessert was also a let down, being in most cases what appeared straight from the freezer or fridge. The cream and "creme Anglais" were
poured over the puddings and not supplied in jugs, which would be the more acceptable method.
My brother did complain, but was fobbed off with a "sorry". Not a place that myself or any of the others present are likely to visit again.

Once again, we really enjoyed yet another fantastic meal at The Loughpool Inn - a lovely country pub in a very pretty setting. My husband had the steak, guinness & stilton pie and I had the chicken... absolutely delicious! They were running a promotion, so it was also great value for money too. I'd highly recommend it.

We visited the Lough Pool Inn on Saturday evening 9 August. There were 7 of us in the party. At first it looked as though the evening would be very enjoyable; the food on the menu looked lovely and it was a very busy evening in both the restaurant and bar. We received our starters, except two of the starters had been sent to another table; instead of removing all our meals and starting again so that we could all eat together, my father and another guest had to wait a while for theirs! The main meals were fine, but not up to the standards of the cost charged for each of them; you cannot charge 5 star prices and then give a 2-3* meal. The food was fine, but not exceptional based on the cost. The service after the main course but not good, as we were left with dirty plates on the table for a good 20 minutes after we had all finished, at this time the restaurant was almost empty, so it was not down to the staff being too busy. We had to ask to get the table cleared and to order desserts. We also ordered coffee and that order was placed incorrectly. All in all, the place was good, but would not want to visit again, as it cost well over £200 for 7 of us, which for an adequate meal seems quite a lot!

My partner and I visited The Lough Pool recently with some friends as it had been
recommended. We all had different meals and I especially enjoyed the breast of
duck which was cooked perfectly. Everyone had a great time. We will go back again.

Having enjoyed several excellent meals at this picturesque pub, I was very dissappointed on this occasion. One of the starters was a goats cheese fondue. It arrived in a ramekin with a small spoon and was icy cold. Very odd. The fish was ok but the vegetable selection boring and almost raw. We did not stay for desert. It was expensive and poor value for money especially as the service was most unfriendly. The waitress looked thoroughly miserable.
Perhaps it was just a one-off so we shall go back again but the pub cannot survive on reputation alone!

In the past I have enjoyed many a good meal at the Lough Pool, however the last meal we experienced was although hilarious, rated as the worst meal and service we ever had at this establishment.
Someone needs to sack the chef. The food was bland, unimaginative with very little choice. Don't they taste the food before service ?, the veg was undercooked ( rock hard peas we could not eat ), and the sweet menu that was so good in the past was a joke.
To top it all a large squadron of flies joined us for diner, I've never sat through diner even abroad and have to flap one arm over the meal to keep the flies off whilst attempting to eat with the other, the site of 6 people flapping and eating was hilarious.
Get a proper chef and a decent manager and I may come back.
