A mixed bag. Starters of carpaccio of beef and asparagus soup were fantastic. Main of beef fillet was fine, but the swipe of beetroot puree was a touch too far and didn't really belong on the plate. The lobster, at twenty seven pounds was meanly portioned and overreduced/overseasoned. Desserts were compentent and bad, respectively. Once again, you had the impression the chef was trying too hard to punch above his weight rather than concentrating on getting a dish done well - too many superflous flourishes when the main event wasn't perfect and at these prices, they really need to be. Cheese selection very nice/ service good. I should also mention the toilets were shabby and detracted from the overall good ambience that greets you front of house. So, a mixed experience - but one that can't begin to match the asking price to be honest.

Refelecting on our wonderful Christmas party, our guests and I were so impressed with the quality of food and service we received on that evening. Everyone who has been in touch has been unable to praise highly enough the fabulous food, the attention to each minute detail and the warm and welcoming ambience of the Sundial Restaurant. It was truly a fantastic evening. It will be a talking point for many months to come - of that I'm sure as the fantastic and unusual dishes that you receive and the way in which presentation is enhanced- the berry mousse lollipops were inspired! is nothing less than sensational. I don't think it will be too long before the Sundial will be awarded a Michelin Star!!

I went here for lunch recently and I can honestly say it was one of the worst meals I have eaten in recent times. This places comes across with the arrogance you would expect from a double Michelin star restaurant (and tries to charge just as much). If only the food lived up to the expectation this place offers. The service was awkward to say the least and the food wouldn’t stand up to what you would expect of a good 'family run' French restaurant costing half as much. Presentation of dishes is straight out of the late 1980's and the whole dining experience was uncomfortable. If your going to pay Michelin star money, then go to a Michelin star restaurant, but avoid this place at all costs!

An experience I or my guests would never want to go through again. The atmosphere was frosty and lacked any sort of welcomimng ambience. Although there were other guests smiles and laughter were definately abscent. We did not stay to try the food and when I informed Mary that we were leaving she became rude and passed a most infamortory and unnesasary remark. We live locally and will not give them another chance. I really thought the days of pretensious restaurants were behind us. These people need a reality check!

Excellent food and ambience. A superb experience and delightful service. A wide selection of rare wines and a wonderful wine list. Speciality evenings are also arranged. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
