Apparently re-opening end of May - early June - with local ales.

Pub has gone bust but rumour has it that it may re-open as a Chinese Restaurant

I found the Plough to be well ran, great food and even better service, the rooms are very well appointed, The owners and staff cannot do enough for you, would recommend this place to all my friends

First rate. Friendly, discreetly attentive staff, excellent choice of beer and wine, great food with plenty of choice, generous portions yet not too pricey.
Eating out in the garden til very late, we had a really wonderful evening.

Stayed one night at the Plough Inn last night and was very disappointed. The pub itself seems cosy enough, but we were given a room in a chalet block opposite which left a lot to be desired. The room was badly overlooked, with both staff and pub visitors coming and going and sitting(and smoking)right outside our ground floor window, which meant that on a sunny afternoon we had to close the curtains in order to have some privacy. Even a set of net curtains would have helped, and we did mention this to a member of staff. Our room was well furnished, though the decor was tired (no handle on the inside of the bathroom door etc). The bathroom was positively unpleasant - it looked like a hospital bathroom, and with the unpleasant smell of disinfectant, it smelt like one too. I think the front page of the welcome pack, which consists of a long apology for low standards is a dead giveaway!
Breakfast was good, though we had to ask for many items which had been forgotten by the very pleasant and willing, though clearly inexperienced, staff.

I currently live in the U.S., but I am English and grew up in Wootton. This pub is lovely, whenever I come home to visit, my Mum and I take a walk down the Thames and return for lunch at the Plough. It is so very English and I appreciate it more now than ever!
