Really wonderful experience! We had some dishes from a Diwali menu and it was great! Some of the best tasting Indian I have ever had.

Turban meets tam-o'-shanter in this remarkable Indian restaurant, where giant wooden elephants and flickering lights set the mood and the menus are translated into broad Edinburgh dialect. 'Sterters' ('Tae get yer juices gaun') might include vegetable haggis fritters as well as samosas (described as 'a licht pastry stappit, servit a flavourful dookin sauce'), while wide-ranging main courses could span everything from Goan prawns and achar gosht ('lamb cookit with ginger in a yoghurt and picle mixter-maxter') to dakshni murgh masala ('a curry wi teeth'). Despite the gimmicks, there is serious Indian food on offer here, and Suruchi is also famed for its regional food festivals, jazz gigs, cultural extravaganzas and much more besides. The original branch is at 14A Nicolson Street, Edinburgh, opposite the Festival Theatre.

Its been a while I am living in Edinburgh and being an Indian it was quite depressing to go for an Indian meal or a curry until we found "Suruchi". The restaurent trully defines its brand name. Food is really tasty and there is no difference in authenticity. The HAGGIS FRITTER and SOUTH INDIAN LAMB curry with black pepper is my favorite and BUTTER CHICKEN is a must . The ambience in the restaurant reminds me of India. The staff were very helpful to our needs. It is very spacious and well maintained. These all made me a regular customer and will recommend everyone to have a pleasurable indian meal in the Suruchi restaurant.

Suruchi was discovered just by accident. Situated on the first floor right opposite the Festival Theatre. Great location and superb food. We fell for the Banquest suggested by the manager. Great choice of starters including Veggie Haggis. The food did not reflect anything that is normally available in curry houses throughout Britain but had lots of Scottish produce. It had venison, salmon and trout on the menu as well all cooked with a classy Indian twist. Worth a visit.

Very good Indian food with a Scottish flavour. Don't let the silliness in the menu put you off. Excellent for vegetarians.
