Had a fantastic New Year in the New Inn. The Staff were friendly and the locals very welcoming. Fantastic atmosphere with an impromptu acoustic session with the regulars Jim,Bob and declan who were joined by some visitors. All in all a great time and we will be back often.

Visited this pub quite a few times while staying in the area on holiday. Locals very friendly and made us very welcome. Food was excellent and represented very good value for money. If you want good food at a fair price in a friendly establishment you wont go wrong. Dogs allowed in the bar area and my boxer settled in well.

Hi, I am the chef and current owner of the New Inn. This is just a quick comment to contest the bad review we have recieved on this web site. I can assure everybody looking to visit the New Inn Brampton to do so without the worry of bad language from the locals as this is not a regular occurrence and actually the person responsible had just buried somebody extremely close to him and unfortunately very drunk. I have known this person for three years now and that was the first and last time he has behaved in this way. As for our food being medeiocre i would strongly dissagree it is all fresh food and excellent value for money. lastly i would like to apologise to Mr Tomlinson for the bad experiance he recieved at the New Inn.

We were on holiday in the area, and one evening we visited the pub, not a good experience, there was some locals in the bar, looking very scruffy, so I guess labourers or summat, one guy at the bar was very drunk, language was not what one would expect. thought about leaving but decided if we went into the restuarant area, wouldnt have to listen to the language. Food was mediocre served by what looked like schoolchildren. not really a good experience. we had a meal at The Royal Oak in Appleby, far better experience, nicer surroundings, better food all in all far better experience. The New Inn Avoid it. David Tomlinson

Just used the new home delivery service covering the local villages of Brampton, Long Marton and Dufton. Excellent home made fish and chips with mushy peas delivered with salad and a slice of lemon. Perfectly cooked and piping hot. I'll be using the service again!

We were brought up in Appleby and used to visit The New Inn regularly both as students and then later in life. It did go downhill so we left. However,we went back this visit to be more than pleasantly surprised. The new management are warm and friendly and the food excellent both in terms of value and quality. The service was great and the draught beer from the Tirril Brewery (now based in nearby Long Marton) is to die for! Highly recommended!

I am home from University in Austrailia where I am doing a Masters in Surf! My Ma and Pa told me that The New Inn was the place to go for some decent tucker so in I went on Sunday. I was warmly received by the friendly barmaid and endulged myself in the Turf n Surf from the Specials Board. Tasty Prawns that were the size of mice on a flame grilled steak that was done to perfection for my taste. A couple of pints of Stella and I was happy to be without a XXXX from down under! There was a busker playing the guitar on Sunday evening who knocked out a few Beatles numbers. What a turn!! I must try and get back with the whole family before I return to Oz! I just can't keep my husband Bob away from the New Inn! We were on the A66 heading home to the North East, the traffic was heavy and Bob said "It's Friday the 13th! It could be unlucky to go any further without a meal from the New Inn." Before I knew it there we were tucking into the succulant chicken and bacon melt with real home made chunky chips! Bob had the cod & chips. The fish was like something out of a Mobey Dick film!A massive fish with white flakes of beutiful cod. By the time Bob has downed a few pints of the Tirril Red Barn I had to drive the rest of the way home while he snored his way up the A1. I am sure we will return!!!

I popped in here for a pint and a bite to eat and got a warm welcome and professional service from the new management Rob, Gary and Stu! A fine selection of meals I had the traditional Tirral Steak & Ale pie with home made chips! It tasted superb and was competitively priced too! The well kept selection of locally produced ales from the Tirral Brewery were just the job to wash down such an excellent meal. I am sure that I will visit again and very soon!!!!

I stopped in for a quick bite to eat here this evening on my way accross the A66 and was thoroughly impressed. It would appear they have had a change of ownership and of management and has had a full refurbishment since my last visit in october 2005. For anyone after a good meal and a great pint I suggest you try the new inn!

I wish I could say more about this pub, but their customer service prevents me from doing so! We stopped off at the New Inn for tea on the way down from Scotland. As we arrived a few minutes early for their 7pm opening time, we waited patiently outside. The landlady charged out and rudely accused us of banging on the window (we did no such thing), then told us to moved our car... So we moved it all the way to the next nearest pub in the guide, The Tufton Arms in Appleby, and had a lovely meal there instead.
