Good location and clean pub. Very disappointed with the food. Chips not cooked properly, pie burnt inside, lasagne sloppy. It is ashame they do not home make food as they have a great location with a captive audience i.e. walkers!

Fabulous place. Great Food. But a wait of one and threequarter hours. So don't go in high summer if you want a quick meal! Highly recommended despite the long wait.

We holiday each summer in Dorset and always visit the Smugglers Inn. One particular favourite was July 2004 when they had a pirate themed evening BBQ with a couple of Morris Dance Clubs performing. My daughter was one of the winners in the fancy dress competition that evening. Always a popular pub, so expect waits for food and drink. Food does seem a little on the expensive side though. I am a member of the Dorset Family History Society and wrote an article on this pub (in their Sept 2005 issue), tracing the families who lived there. It was also known as The Crown and The Picnic! Will be visiting again in the next month or so, can't wait.....

What a great getaway !! 5 hours South from Ipswich and we were there. Talk about Chalk and Cheese ! The scenery is fantastic and the local people very friendly. We stayed over the weekend at the Smugglers Inn and on our arrival were greeted by the friendly, "down to earth" owners. After being shown to our clean tidy double room we ventured downstairs for a well earned beer after a long journey from Suffolk. What a selection of great ales...and a pool table to enjoy for an hour or so until our appetites began to growl! There was no mistaking the quality of the food by the great smell from the kitchens and the careful presentation of every dish. The menu is thoroughly thought out and provides an option for everybody. Home made steak and ale pie... or will it be warm bacon and chicken salad... or maybe fish of the day... we'll have them all we're staying 3 nights!! Great service from staff that atleast appear to want to be there...better than most places l have eaten recently. Can't wait to go back this month...but l won't be on a diet, everything is just too tempting!

I was staying at the Osmington Mills campsite just up the lane from The Smugglers Inn 13-8-05 - 20-8-05. I visited the Inn on four occasions. The first night we couldn't get a seat inside so sat outside, the food arrived it was tast but tepid it had obviously sat around for a while before being brought out. The second time our first three choices were not available on the menu, I was told that the chef was sick. The next night there was one person serving drinks witha que of about fifteen minutes just to get a drink let alone food. We left to go elsewhere. We did have a BBQ the next evening which was good but still had to que a while for drinks. It is a lovely looking pub but after being there all week I feel that the owners are paying as little for staff as possible and relying on it's location to 'milk' a captive audience. What a waste of a fine pub and location.

Great views when you pull in to car park across sea to Weymouth, really stunning. Good to go in the evening when sun goes down. Food and service was wonderful too. Has recently been refurbished. Would recommend to anyone!!!
