I would like to recommend The Carpenters Arms, Eastling, Kent ME13 0AZ.
The pub is ancient with large inglenook fire places and set in a beautiful little village opposite the manor house.
The chef, who has previously worked in some Michelin starred restaurants, has in a short space of time attracted a serious foody following.
Last Sunday I sat next to a French chap who happened to be a baker, over here on holiday, who was raving about the home made bread.
They make everything in house, even their own sausages, which they then smoke over apple wood sawdust.
When I was their last I had potted crab in a kilner jar to start and then a beef, bacon and bone marrow pie with the bone poking out through the crust. Amazing rustic country food!
