I visited this establishment for the first time on Saturday 27th July evening with two very close friends. We had some drinks and two of us ordered the venison burger with onion rings, chips and side salad. It was the first time I had tried vension as well. It was delicious and we will definitely be going back for more at some point! Excellent customer service as well and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

We chose the Star & Eagle because of its appearance being a 14th century inn, and being our 6th wedding anniversary. Upon arrival we were made very welcome, shown our room which lived up to our expectations with oak beams, furniture and period four poster bed. Later we were shown to our table in the restuarant, the menu was outstanding (I wanted to try everything) my wife chose beef wellington, myself the lamb, succulant doesn't describe enough the quality of the food it was outstanding,as was the desert, washed down with a bottle of Bollinger. Upon retiring we found the bed very comfortable, in the morning we went down for breakfast were greeted by a bright friendly face and served a full english, To summerise, our stay was enjoyable, friendly and pleasant we will return. xxx

We had a very enjoyable stay during our weekend in this lovely old hotel. The only downside was that there were no tea making facilities in the room, and we had to make an additional payment for the vegetables we ate with our main meal both evenings - which we found to be very strange!

After having passed this pub several times this year on the way down to Beneden Hospital I felt that I had to one day come down and visit. On a rare day off work I took my elderly mum for a day out in Kent. We came to the Star and Eagle for lunch - and what a lunch! We were warmly greeted by the staff and the food was out of this world - we had the ginger chicken dish - fabulous. The only downfall was the work being done to the chimney - but the staff explained to us why it was being done and it was a fascinating story. I would recommend this place to anyone - cant wait for summer next year and I will be back to sit out on the terrace out the back and look out over the wonderful view.

The sense of history in this hotel is palpable. Customer service is very good and the staff are pleasant and well informed. Clean rooms but no coffee/tea facilities in any of the rooms. Excellent full english breakfast and the bar menu is comprehensive and fairly good value. Good location for visiting Kent/Surrey. Will be staying there again.

We stayed in the 4 poster room which was very nice. The food at dinner was also excellent. Service was very efficient but sadly we were made to feel an inconvenience to all the staff. None of them could manage service with a smile. The breakfast waitress on the 13th was particularly bad. The exception was the young guy working the bar on Saturday who did seem to understand what a customer is, he was very good! For £120 a night b@b I expect better.
