really disapointed with our visit. there was six of us in our party. four had starters which were fine, but then had to wait an hour for main courses to arrive and thats were it went wrong. the seabass was more of a sprat with very little fish on it. the haddock and chips came with refried scrappy chips and the vegetable stroganoff came with no veg and no rice, just a plate of brown soup. very disapointed and will not be recommonding this resturant to anyone.

Our second visit in a month after living only 15minutes away and living in the area for 8 years!!
We like eating our main meal at lunchtime, so our trips are non booked and were taken in the bar area.
I have to say on both occasions,(the second visit was to see if the standards were maintained),my wife and I have been very pleased and surprised by the quality of the food, and particularly the cooking of the fish dishes.
On both occasions we have taken 2 courses from the blackboard, and a sweet from the menu.
I had scollaps(still with the corals attached)bass in a salt crust, served on a bed of new potatoes, tomatoes, slices of fennel and pieces of chorizo, followed by apple crumble with custard
To my taste it was the best bass dish I have ever eaten.Well cooked and well flavoured.
The Boss had prawns in a sweet chillie sauce, halibut with colcannon dauphinois, followed by poached pear.
She thought the halibut, although cooked well lacked something, I put it down to the subtlety of the fish more than anything wrong with the cooking.
Highly recommended, only sorry it's taken us 8 years to find the pub.
About £70 including our two drinks each, excellent.

Lovely pub doing really good food!
The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and you can eat in the bar or restaurant, the food is the same in both.
The bar is cosy with a lovely fire in winter.
The food is fantastic with lots of daily specials to suit everyone as well as a regular menu.
If you like fish you will be especially pleased as there are lots of imaginative fish dishes on the specials board.
Either the owner or a relation owns a trawler and provides them with all manner of fresh fish daily.
Highly recommended.
