I have eaten at the Cross Keys a dozen times and have always found the service to be good and the beer excellent. The food however is a bit hit and miss. The hits include superb salmon en croute and pork and apple pie, the misses include over-cooked duck, a bizarre 'raw' beef tomato meal, ploughmans with sliced bread, and very salty lasagne.

A very welcoming place to stay in a perfect location, the views from the pub are a delight after working in town all day. The staff were very helpful and nothing was to much bother. Good food served for lunch and evening with, a homemade steak and ale pie suiting me just fine. The pub has a great local village atmosphere and has a nice selection of cask ales on handpump. My room was very comfortable and well appointed with its own en-suite wetroom. I would highly recommend The Cross Keys to others and will definately stay there again.

Stayed here whilst I was workng away - I just wanted to state that I found the hospitality great along with the food and accomadation. Just wanted to also thank John with the help he gave me when I stupidly left my lights on over night, he got the car started again :-)
Big thanks to everyone at the Cross Keys Inn for making me feel so welcome. This place is strongly recommended.

Sadly I have to agree with the previous comment. It took almost an hour to get our lunches and we still had to wait for our veg.
I did not expect my medium sirloin steak to be so chewy, nor to have my chips ready salted.
We had been looking forward to a return visit after a superb meal there last year, but were very disappointed

I have stayed in the accommodation attached to this pub on several occasions over the last few months.
Rooms are modern and clean, but some guests may find some of the rooms a little basic (lack of hanging space for clothes in some rooms)
Food - varies from satisfactory to very good, tending towards the latter. I haven't had a bad meal in 4 months.
Beer is very good - small but changing selection of properly handled real ales are available in addition to the mainstream stuff.
Staff are friendly and accommodating.
Good value for money, particularly when compared with the mainstream hotels in the area which are either not very good, or good but expensive. Beats a Travel Lodge anyday.
