As a rule, I don't comment on independent websites about campsites I have visited. My preferred method of critique is to talk directly to the owners / wardens. I do however, read campsite critiques and after reading the last one on Penmarlam C&C Park, I felt I had to make a comment. Unfortunately, I had the misfortune to meet the reviewer 'John' at the site - he was there at the same time as his Mother, Brother, Uncle & Aunt and many other family friends who, incidentally, all had an excellent holiday. I was present when this reviewer started an argument at the boat slip way with an elderly gentleman over a boating incident caused by the reviewer. An off duty policeman had to intervene and calm him down. I believe he was subsequently banned from using his boat on Fowey water. His attitude on the site was one of arrogance and false superiority to most of the other campers and certainly the poor wardens, who in everyone's opinion are the best the site has had for many a year. I'm not quite sure what has caused the reviewer to slate the owner of the site, the wardens and the site itself, as it definitely isn't warranted. This is one of the best, friendliest, well maintained small sites we have ever stayed on. Just before we left, I believe the site had its annual British Tourism Board inspection (August) and according to the very proud owner Marcus, the site achieved its best ever score of 90%. Whatever problem the reviewer John has, it must be personal and definitely doesn't reflect the opinions of all others who regularly use this site. Then again, perhaps it's a clever ploy to stop others from trying out this campsite and an attempt to keep it a closely guarded secret!

pleasant and well maintanted site which has got shower blocks and also a disabled toilet and shower facility.laundry room which has a washing machine dryer and a iron for a reasonable price. Shop on site which is well stocked with daily provisions and camping bits and pieces that you might need. Fresh milk and veg daily ,also daily newspapers .Choice of 2 different fields , stunning views . Boat slipway that you can use for a charge payable by barrier or by buying pass in shop or harbour. So you can go boating up the river fowey and out to sea fishing or even go to different local beaches. Pet friendly so dogs are welcome, plently of leisurely walks with stunning views of the cornish countryside. Will definately be coming back as was made to feel very welcome by the owner and his staff
