Reviews of Talbot Inn, Bishopton

On Saturday, some friends, my wife and myself attended The Talbot restaurant in Bishopton, something we had done a number of times. Despite booking a table to avoid waiting, the four of us were eventually shown to our table thirty five minutes after the time we booked for. No apologies or explanations were given. After eating an acceptable starter, we eventually received our main course over one hour after the time we had booked for. I had ordered a Fillet steak and asked for it to be cooked "medium". Unfortunately it was served Rare. Not a bit rare but very rare with all but the outside being raw red meat. I wasn't happy and asked for a member of staff to attend the table with a view to sending it back to be further cooked. The restaurant manager/owner decided to stick his two penneth in and became very confrontational and intimidating. Criticism was something he obviously could not tolerate. He ranted about problems he'd had with his father that day which was something I didn't wish to hear. The manager then lost the plot and ordered the four of us out of the premises, which we were glad to do under the circumstances. What are we, a bunch of tearaway rowdy teenagers? No, I am a disabled 62 year old man who uses a walking stick and has inoperable cancer, heart disease, diabetes, Coeliac disease and arthritis, and I'm the youngest. The man obviously doesn't have the temperament to accept criticism or to run a restaurant. Whatever happened to the old adage, rule one:-"The customer is always right" and rule two :- "if the customer is wrong, refer to rule one." You live and learn and hopefully the reader will bear this tale in mind when deciding where to go.

We have eaten here on several occasions and have found the food good but would like to point out that each time I've had a chicken dish have been let down by the texture of this by tasting as if its been microwaved as it is very tough and for the prices being charged would expect it to be perfect. Also the serviettes on tables you would expect for an establishment of the prices being charged that they would be of the cloth variety not cheap paper ones, these would be more suitable for the early bird menu.

two of us ate here, both had 3 courses, a drink each, and a coffee each. The service was excellent, all the staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you. The food was excellent and the choices were amazing. All this cost less than £40. I will definatly be eating here again, as well as suggesting it to friends and family.

Excellent food, great service, nice quiet restaurant. 3 course meal came to £62. There's a cheaper fixed price menu if you dine before 7pm.
