This pub was heaving with diners when we visited the other evening . Great atmosphere and good service. Very good value food and plenty of it. We will be back!

Super little find out in the countryside of Navestock. Only a few minutes drive from Romford Always been made welcome here, great selection of ales and good food all home made. This place is always packed so that says a lot. I've been using this place for years and it's still in the same privately owned hands. They don't allow children as it's a pub and I'm OK with that. Nice patio if you must bring the kids.

My partner and I visited the Alma on a Saturday night for dinner and both agreed that it was the best value and tastiest food we have had in a pub in a long time
The service was beyond my expectations with friendly, polite and happy staff who obviously love their work. We couldn't believe how busy it gets considering it's a bit way out in the country.I can see how popular it must be due to the delicious food and home made desserts. I will definitely be a regular here from now on

My friends and I were looking to eat late evening but didn't want an Indian or chinese so took a chance on the Alma as I had heard good reports on the food here We were a large party of 10 including our son of 14 I can honestly report that we were made very welcome and most of us had a 3 course meal The food is so reasonably priced here Every course was served fairly quickly and the meals are so plentiful and well presented Also the bar staff are really friendly and helpful and kept us welcome right up to closing time of 11 pm Theres so much to choose from , also the real ale is really good

A country pub which is out in the sticks near Stapleford Abbotts golf course. Old pub with featured oak beamed bar and a comfortable conservatory although it can get a bit hot in there sometimes . A great place to eat and the meals are perfectly cooked, and well presented. The menu which is available 7 days a week is so cheap with loads to choose from .You have to collect you meals with a buzzer but you get served quick and the meals were piping hot. Great choice of home made desserts.

This has got to be one of the finest eating houses for the price. The home made steak pie only cost £7.95 and the portion was huge. The other food here looked lovely, and the portions were all massive.
The staff are always smiling and friendly, you can see they enjoy their job as nothing was too much trouble for them. The Christmas decorations looked welcoming and a lot of effort had gone in to them.
Can't recommend this pub enough please go as you wont be disappointed

We visited on a Sunday afternoon in the hope of a good meal!! To start with it cost £5.75 for 5 pieces of poorly cooked breaded scampi. For mains We ordered the beef roast, I can truly say it was the worst meal ever ordered! There was 3 small cold dry roast potatoes, cold sliced carrots, 1 piece of over cooked mushy cold broccoli, 1 cardboard Aunt Bessie Yorkshire pudding and 3 small WAFER thin slices of beef costing just short of £10 each!! I can honestly say that the quality and portions of food sold here is worse than a frozen supermarket roast dinner! Save your money and disappointment and eat elsewhere that serve traditional quality roast dinners. This pub uses a system that requires the customer to order and pay for their food in advance and then listen for their order number to be announced on a intercom so that they can then collect the food from the bar. You would expect that due to having no waiting staff overheads, the quality of food would reflect this!

We are regulars to the Alma Arms and it has definately gone downhill in our estimation. The food was terrible - the brochilli tasted of fish and was overcooked both my daughter and I complained and the turkey must have been cut with a razor blade we think it was processed turkey. The meal cost £9.99.which you expect to get a decent roast dinner foir that price. The presentation was terrible couldn't see the turkey at all as the peas were spread over it. Our friends have also been to the Alma recently and have said they are not visiting anymore. We are sorry to say after being regulars for a number of years we will not be visiting also. Whether they have a different chef I don't know but I think a lot of the regulars will not be visiting. It's a shame as the Alma had a good reputation for serving good quality food - but sorry to say not now.

One of the best pubs for a decent affordable meal, we had the Christmas meal yesterday and it was lovely. Their friendly efficient staff made our staff party very enjoyable. We will be back for next year
