We've been to The Otter twice recently and cannot fault the food. We've had the burger and chips, the meat pie, ham and egg and chilli. All were piping hot and the portion sizes were more than average. The pub is small and cosy...the perfect venue for a Sunday evening drink before the start of another working week.

In response to the below comment, you have to understand that The Otter is a small family run pub, and like any other small business, money and "bums on seats" matter. The restaurant is always full on Sundays and although you may not have seen any others there I can assure you that being a frequent diner they are always busy and no doubt all the tables were booked at a later time 1pm say...? Just to add that the food here is excellent and has been for many years, if ever we have friends visiting we do not hesitate to book up a table.

Visited as part of a group of six. Four were eating and 2 were not so they sat at the table with the rest. A lady approached (presumably the Landlady) and complained that 2 were not eating and the places could have been filled by other diners. We looked around and we were the only diners there. This was at 12:50 midday on a Sunday ! We were not behaving badly or even being loud ! This caused much upset to one of the party. We all left to eat elsewhere. Not impressed !

the otter is lovely pub/restaurant in south hampshire, which i think is unique. i have been here quite a few times, they are one of the few places in the area to offer real ales, friendly staff, quality restaurant food, and good atmosphere. gets busy most nights so would advise restaurant bookings. there is a beer garden, big car park and pub (seperate from restaurant) overlooks otterbourne green. staff are evry friendly, but only criticism is that the decor looks slightly outdated in the pub (seats not comfy, lack of bar stools, warm bottled drinks, old tills, dirty walls) but the xmas decorations make up for this (pretty spectacular)!!!! i woudl recommend the homemade steak pies and lasagne!
