I don't often take the time to write a review and I definitely don't often find a pub that has food worth writing a review about but the Rose & Crown deserves all the praise I can give... my friend and I often eat there on a Friday night and the food is just simply wonderful... lovely choice, quality food and beautifully presented. Not what I would describe as traditional pub grub (not a burger and chips in sight). We have paid twice the price in fancy pants eateries and not had nearly as good a meal. Family run and the staff are delightfully friendly and helpful.

Really lovely pub! We go here all the time and all staff are friendly whilst giving you the peace and privacy to enjoy a family meal out. We are quite picky about that and love coming here! The food is yummy and we always go to the restaurant for family occasions, which is a nice change for something more formal whilst still keeping the lovely atmosphere!

the 'ejector' (acting much calmer than would be expected) is not a violent man and has never been known to be, was completely provoked by the 'cyclist' whom overstepped the mark and never did he call out those things. The cyclists are more than welcome if they can comply with the reasonable requests of the owner of the pub/restuarant. This is all ridiculous and the landlord acted well within his rights!

Not only is the Rose & Crown a lovely pub to visit with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff, but the food is of the highest quality. Whether it's lunch or evening meal you have an excellent choice and varied menu. Well worth the 12 mile journey I make. Like the previous reviewer, I too would not relish sweaty cyclists at close quarters when I'm enjoying a meal in the restaurant.

With reference to the cyclist who visited the rose and crown. i was dining in the restaurant this evening with 3 guests and the gentleman concerned was Not only the only very rude, abusive and man handled the lady owner. what gives him the right to think he can wonder round the restaurant in his smelly cycling shorts when people are eating. the lady did ask not to enter but he tried to push by. several cyclist had already been served in the other bar and was made feel welcome before this rude man made a scene. he gives cyclist a bad name. thankfully this did not ruin our evening in a very pleasant pub.

Not a pleasant experience. I visited this pub with a group of 7 cyclist friends. Within seconds of walking in the bar one of our party (a mild-mannered middle age family man who on this occasion was accompanied by his wife and has never caused any trouble visiting pubs during the 8 years I've known him) was being violently ejected from the bar. At this point we decided to leave and spend our usual £50-£60 at the Woodman at nearby Wildhill. As I was calmly unlocking my bicycle and installing lights on it the "ejector" was standing about 10 yards away from me shouting "do you want some?" and "are you up for it?", whatever that means. If you must visit this establishment keep your crash helmet on and simultaneously campaign for local A & E facilities to be preserved.

Stumbled upon this delightfull pub a few years ago. Pretty as a picture, food is exquisite, family run business that is well worth a visit. Have been there several times, it is a bit of a drive away for us but we make the effort because it is worth the drive.

Our first visit was so good! Just had to write another review. This time they got us drunk first and then fed us!
