Average with stuck up staff and to be honest how can it not be The Best Pub in Dunks Green when it's the only pub in Dunks Green or did I blink and miss the other one??

I wish I lived closer and it was my local - ie staggering distance. The perfect English country pub. Landlord and staff - not to mention the locals, welcoming. Great range of speciality events. Quiz night, pie night, Morris Dancers, film night and the newly instigated Autumn Horticultural Show. (Please let me enter - I am only in Tonbridge - North!!!!) If every country pub had been this inventive perhaps we wouldn't have lost so many. Not to mention the lovely old (well rebuilt stunningly like the previous after a fire) architecture. Here's looking at you Jon - Cheers. Jo

Completely shocked to see negative reviews on here, so felt I should write one. I have been to the Kentish Rifleman on a few occasions and have never been disappointed. Lovely atmosphere, cosy and warming, fabulous food and all at a decent "pub" price. In fact, if anything, the drink is very reasonably priced - and a good choice. Every time I have been there in winter there has been a lovely fire burning, and in the summer a gorgeous garden to sit in. I will definitely be going back.

hello i have been back to the rifleman after a long ten months wait and was so haapy with the out come which includes... The food is 100 percent better good vegetarian dishes and starters also the steak and ale pie is excellent best in kent review above i disagree with the green beans they are meant to be al dente otherwise they look like over done and the chips have changed they were homemade now are freshly bought in. i was in a party on saturday nite and the service was excellent friendly staff and very help full was more then happy to pay the 10per cent service charge (which is Optional)... over all i give the kentishrifleman the thumbs up and cant wait to go again soon very good pub good food and most of all value for money. joe fisher

Could not wait to revisit the Kentish Rifleman after the big fire, but terribly disappointed. Steak and mushroom pie £9.50 green runner beans were tough and potatoe wedges marked up as chips were overdone. No other vegetables on offer. Only 2 pumps now instead of 4 serving bitter. Very pricey. Worst of all they added 10% on the total bill. Pub itself Very nice done out. At these prices and not much to choose from the menu we wont be going back.
