We had our wedding reception here at The Cock Inn, well we couldn't have asked for a better day, aside from the weather. Bill, Margaret and Corine, made our day so special. The Beer garden looked fantastic and all our guests enjoyed an afternoon in wonderful sunshine. We ate our lunch in the restaurant, fantastic, beautifully decorated by Corine, excellent food organised and prepared by Bill to our specification, and the drinks for our guest superbly managed by Margaret. Our whole day went without a hitch down to the superb planning by the 3 of them, We had a fantastic BBQ in the evening in the beer garden, followed by a live band in the restaurant. Even my 3 dogs enjoyed themselves playing in the grassed beer garden all day. Thank you so much to all 3 of you and the staff you had working that day. The preparation, service, food and drinks couldn't have been any better. Top Quality! THANK YOU X

Reading the previous reviews, we must have caught them on an 'off day'! Being keen walkers, we called in en-route for a Sunday lunchtime snack, hoping for a light-bite - perhaps a baguette, panini or toasted sandwich. They only had sandwiches - ham, cheese or smoked pork. We opted of the ham and the pork. They came - quickly - but we were disappointed. The supermarket white sliced bread was tasteless, dry and the fillings tasteless, too. No sign of a tomato or lettuce leaf to help them down! No knife to spread the sachets of mustard and (oddly) mayonnaise. What a shame as the pub, bar lady and location lovely.

The Cock Inn is a beautiful building, in beautiful surroundings and is well kept and always very clean. The Landlady and landlord are really friendly and you can always be assured of a very warm welcome. The beer is well kept, and the food is outstanding. I just love the selection of vegetables that you get. The food is always of a consistently high standard and certainly represents value for money. It is so rare these days to find a pub that actually cooks 'REAL' food, and the puddings are great, crumble is my favorite with lashings of cream. The views from the restaurant are fantastic and they also have a large beer garden, and children's play area in a safe environment, a great place to relax and receive a warm welcome not just from the family but also from the locals.

On my first visit here a few years ago, " a bloke behind the bar" was serving beer and selling a "selection" of pre-prepared ham or cheese cobs wrapped in cling film. The building was in disrepair & refurbishment had just started. On periodical later visits (always as a walker)the building work was progressing with no notable change at the bar. Today it is an excellent country pub, serving a selection of excellently kept real ales & a with a fantastic restaurant serving excellent food (10/10 for the roast pork followed by the fruit crumble with custard! thanks)with incredible value for money. Whether you are a walker or looking for a good meal (& beer), I would highly recommend this place.
