Really don't know where to start the pub was taken over just before Christmas having used this pub on a regular basis for quite a few years and let me tell you it's not as good as people are making out the beer has definitely gone down the Nick all the old favourites on the menu have gone your now offered over piced food e,g a burger for £10 steak for £17 good god it's not a restaurant it's a pub or used to be even if u go for a drink all the tables are reserved obviously a message for the drinkers we don't need u when we have food being served and as for the barmaid what du want bab. Not good front of house and then you have to listen to the foul language from all the coach customers if the previous owners could see what's happened to the place after all there hard work over the last few years

We have lived in Wheaton Aston since 1986 and can honestly say that we are very lucky to have landlords Donna & Andy at the Hartley Arms. The staff in the kitchen are very well organised and make wonderful home cooked specials. The bar staff are excellent. Even when the pub is very busy they are always very polite and serve quickly, with a smile. There are some really negative reviews on this website (please notice they are old reviews) and I don't think they give a true reflection of the way the Hartley Arms is today. Go and see for yourself.

I went to the Hartley Arms yesterday and was plesantly surprised by the good service and high quality food. I was visiting Wheaton Aston after being at University in London for 3 years and i had taken my boyfriend and four other friends with me to visit family. As soon as i got to the Hartley, i could see it had been taken over by new people since I left, apparantly, though i'm not sure, the previous owner died... The new staff seemed very nice, there was a wonderful 'family' atmosphere. Anyway, I was welcomed by a very obliging group of front of house staff who seated my party quickly and easily even though there were only a few large tables left. The menu was brilliant, as was the specials board. My boyfriends steak diane was cooked beautifully, and the diane sauce was gorgeous; my cajun chicken ciabatta came with curly fries whcih were lovely, and the ciabatta looked and tasted nice. Other meals ordered by my party included a mixed grill- prefect; a beef lasagne-beautifully presented; a lamb shank- gorgeous; and a gammon which was crispy at the edge but lovely and tender in the middle. We even stayed to have puddings which we dont often do and my hot chocolate pidding with custard was also wonderful. I would definately recommend it to people.

A group of 6 of us visited The Hartley Arms on 12 Jun 09 while on a narrowboat holiday on the Shropshire Union Canal. Whatever reviews you have read about this place in the past, particularly over 18 month old you can ignore, because since then it is now under new ownaship. I cannot recommended The Hartly Arms high enough. Our entire experience there was superb. From the very warm welcome we received to the excellent extensive menu they have available. I personally can recommend the Steak & Guinness pie. I am fairly hypercritical about the quality of Steak & Ale Pies, but I must admit, it was one of the best I have ever tasted! I tried to coax the recipe out of Donna the Landlady, but unfortunately it is Top Secret! Further more regarding The Hartley Arms it has the most friendly buzzing atmosphere in traditional Engish Pub surroundings and the service was second to none. We all thoughly enjoy our evening there and if I lived closer I would certainly make it my local!

We visited the Hartley Arms on 21.11.08. during a trip round the area where we were born, Also to celebrate my brother and his wifes wedding anniversary. The welcome we got was first class, the meal excellent well presented and first class value for money. Without hesitation I would recommend anyone to visit the venue. We will be regular visitors in the future. Thank you to all the staff at the Hartley Arms. Well done.

We visited the Hartley Arms for Sunday lunch as a family group. To be told that the previous licencee had been killed in a car accident whilst in America. The new licencee was very friendly and obliging, the carvery was excellent as was the service, and would highly recommend the Hartley Arms to anyone wanting a drive out and good food. We will definately be dining there again.

My husband and I ate at the Hartley Arms as we occassionally do and the food was exceptional. The portions are massive and the food is very tasty. I do not understand these people THAT LEAVE bad feedback. The food is lovely and I would recommend any one to go there

Been for a meal there today and would say it is for sure the worst meal i have ever had under cooked and thrown on a plate .The supposed landlord is rude and un helpful and would give advice to people wanting a nice meal to stay well clear of this pub and go somewhere nice.

we were unfortunate enough to eat out at the hartley arms last night,It was probably one of the worst meals that my wife and I have ever experienced.my mixed grill came without a lamb chop or even onion rings,as per menu, the sausage eggs and chips were fine, but the pork chop along with the steak(wich tasted high) had been both frozen and machine sawn.the gammon resembled a piece of curly grissle.moving onto my wifes steak diane, this was also a disgrace the strong (high taste) of the steak far more so than the weak packet diane sauce. After complaining to the waitress we were left unanswered untill my wife questioned her 10 ot so minutes later, her reply being that the "chef" was going to speak to the butcher, not really what we wanted to hear, she sent over the owner/managerwho said that the meat had been fresh that morning and that no other complaints had been received,on hearing his reply several other diners began to comment on the poor quality of the meat wich we all concluded was definately of frozen origin and most definately suffering from freezer burn or had been unfit at the time of freezing. we explained that we were most dissatisfied and received a weak apology. We are regulars in the area having a boat moored at norbury, but will certainly not be going back to the hartley arms,I would rather starve.
