Good Points: Large room and lovely bathroom. Pleasant staff at breakfast and good and informal breakfast. Airy entrance. Seemed to be plenty of people staying there. Bad Points: Noise from the generator[?] and Bannatynes was quite loud. The room was quite hot although we couldn't find any soure of heat. Lounge bar food was adequate but not exceptional, with a veryn small amount of toast for the pate! Bedside lighting was not too good for reading. General review: Very good value.

Today I had the misfortune to take two business colleagues for lunch at the Brooklands. We paid through the nose for three steaks in Blakes. The service was awful the meals consisted of a few overcooked chips half a tomato and one mushroom along with a small poor quality steak one of which was like leather and completely inedible. When I DISCREETLY COMPLAINED I was told sorry when you come again order the Barnsley chop thats if you come again.Obviously we shall not be eating there again .Do not be misled by the magnificent surroundings I HAVE HAD BETTER FOOD AND SERVICE AT A LITTLE CHEF

Good Points: Decent room for a reasonable price. Bad Points: Pillows too hard. General review: Very good buffet breakfast. Hotel was close to public transportation for travel into Barnsley Centre and out to the moors.
