Ever since I can remember, there has been a vintage vehicle run from Manchester to Harrogate on the first Sunday in August. I lived in Mytholmroyd and used to watch all the cars, busses, waggons and vans as they motored past on the A646. They always use only the A roads (one of the drivers told me it`s because it`s expensive if they break down on the M62) this event started a long time before the M62 was even thought of, so it`s traditional to use the A roads as well. The most interesting vehicle I remember seeing was a "Sentinel" Steam powered wagon. They meet up on "The Stray" in Harrogate after setting off from Manchester at about 6am.
