We had a lovely morning exploring Deer Park and as we have done previously popped in the Lobster Pot for some lunch. Unfortunately we were served by the owner (Mr) for the first time.
It was fairly cold in the pub as the front door was wide open - when we asked if this could be closed we were gruffly told that he wanted customers to know it was open (the half a dozen cars in the car park would have been a clue). When I then tried to order drinks my five year old daughter was told to get off the stool as she was on CCTV and he could get prosecuted! I then ordered 2 jacket potatoes for us to share (my daughter had been snacking all morning and I did not want to end up eating 2 meals). When the meals arrived I politely asked for an extra plate. I was then advised that it could be provided but at the cost of an extra meal! I had to check that it was not April 1st as I initially thought that he was joking. The justification was the extra costs of washing a plate and the recession. When I challenged this the owner was very unpleasant and said it was his pub so he had every right, he then continued to argue whilst I tried to eat my food. I refused the plate and we left as quickly as we could. It was a shame as the food was ok but we will never ever set foot in there again. I would not recommend going there unless you want to experience customer service like Fawlty Towers!

Decided to go for a meal with my husband and three young daughters my husband ordered the mixed grill, my children had a chips, beans and sausage, and I ordered scampi and chips. When the food arrived it was piled high on the plates, my husband's mixed grill was all over cooked the fried egg looked as though it had been cooked for the same time as his steak, he held his egg up on a fork it was burnt all underneath. The children's meal was awful to sat the least the beans looked as though they had been sat in a hot plate for a couple of hours, and the sausages overcooked, the chips inedible. My scampi was the worst I have ever tasted, all the chips and scampi had been cooked in old cooking oil and this left a taste that masked any flavour there could have been in the food. I managed to eat one and a half scampi and one chip. I have had a better meal at a road side cafe and McDonalds! Whilst everyone is entitled to their own opinion on food my husband is a chef with over 25 years experience, his comments were "that anyone should be able to operate a microwave and a deep fat fryer but obviously at the Lobster Pot they can't". His tip for the Lobster Pot is to concentrate on quality and not the quantity as only a person with the statue of the landlord would be able to devour a meal of this size.

what a difference a change of landlord/landlady makes to a pub!! a warm and friendly welcome was given to our family and friends by the new landlord neil and landlady emma,the beer is now of a very high standard(did hear bad reports)and the food is very good too, will certainly be returning in the near future.

Went to the lobster pot last night as we were told it was under new managerment,we had a very nice evening friendly atmospher and very welcoming.Although they were not doing food until next week we browsed the menu we will go back very soon to try it out.

We arrived at 7.30pm and enquired about having a meal. We were given a menu and told we had to wait approx 30 minutes to order. after another drink and numerous efforts to order we were told at 8.45 that the chef was no longer doing any meals. We were staying in a caravan and had no food. We were told to go to Milford Haven to get food. It was appalling service and would not recommend anyone go there.

Extremely disappointed with the service. Arrived at 7:30pm. Ordered a drink from the bar, given menus and told we could order in 30 mins. After 45 mins enquired about ordering again. Told at that time by waitress that "I'll be there to take your order shortly". 20mins later told that the chef was not cooking any more meals. We were shocked and upset. We have travelled extensively, are currently visiting from Canada and have never in our lives experienced service that appalling. There were no apologies, just told that we would have to go to Milford Haven to eat, as nothing local open that late. I would certainly never ever recommend this restaurant to anyone.

After an absolutely amazing day of sailing off the cost of Dale, exploring the towering cliffs of Deer Park for seal pups, sneaking up on the wild horses for a rare photo shoot and finally staring down one of those black hairy short legged cows called Welsh Blacks, this Canadian visitor was ready for some equally amazing cuisine at the Lobster Pot Pub. Ordering four pints of their finest ale, we were handed a menu and told that they were running a little behind and would take our order within 30 minutes. 45 minutes later I was told they would take our order shortly so I ordered more pints for my friends and I to help ward off the hunger pangs. An hour-fifteen later, we were informed the kitchen was closing and they would not be able to accomodate our needs. When I realized that it was now quarter to nine on a Saturday night and all pubs closed their kitchens at nine, I became frustrated and terribly disappointed that my guests would literally go hungy that night because we were staying in a caravan. I pleaded my case to the land lady to no avail. Patrons around our table also became alarmed at our appaling treatment and voiced their support. Nevertheless, we left their establishment bewildered and betrayed and sauntered down the street to the Griffin Pub in Dale for a healthy dose of salted peanuts and snicker bars. There was no effort on the Lobster Pots part to apologize or make amends for mistreating us. Heck, at that point, we would have settled for a slab of cheese and a small morsel of bread. Avoid this place at all cost or at least bring a healthy snack while you wait!

I'm a local of Dale and having invited my guests to dine at the Lobster Pot in Marlows, I was embarassed, no enraged, by the absolutely disrespectful treatment of my close family. I'm an easygoing forgiving individual however, to promise people some food, mislead them for over an hour and then not come up with the goods is intolerable. It's a great shame that a place that came recommended, delved such a disappointing blow on our first visit. Needless to say, the Loster Pot won't be getting a second chance nor will I recommend it to my freinds.

good, well cooked food with a professional service makes this one of the best spots to eat out in pembrokeshire, had a steak which was nicely cooked and the presentation was very good, what a massive difference to previous owners who did'nt care about there customers one iota!!!!!! oh and the food with previous owners was shite

The food was very good – However, I later realised that I had been charged £10 more than I was told on the night. On calling the pub to ask about the error, I was told to p*!s off …. Definitely not the way to treat customers – Avoid it!

My wife and I visit this area every year and we decided to try this pub having visited the nearby beach. The food wasn't bad really - I went for a basic gammon meal which was nice and my wife ordered one of the specials, which she found to be a little bland. The staff were friendly and looked very busy. The decor was a bit tacky and it lacked the rustic feel of a lot of places around Pembrokeshire but in all, an ok pub which we will eat at again if we're in the area.

On checking in for 4 nights B&B we were immediately disappointed, - grubby and unworkable shower, un-ironed bedlinen and an odd smell! Entering the restaurant that evening we were surprised to find it almost empty as the only other restaurant in the village was booked solid. The food when it came explained all, - it was literally inedible. Quite the worst food I have ever been served in my life. Complaining to the manager got us nowhere, a defensive attitude bordering on truculence, and no apologies. Our complaint obviously festered as later that evening when we were going to bed, we were turned out! Luckily we were immediately able to find somewhere much much nicer in the village and enjoyed some wonderful evening meals at the nearby Clockhouse - highly recommended!

I gather this pub has been under new management since January this year. I visited it every day during a brief stay in Marloes and had two excellent (and substantial) evening meals; the staff were professional and friendly. I understand from the landlady that she and her partner are consciously trying to change the pub from what it was previously like; they look to be on the right tracks, and deserve to succeed.

Driving past the Lobster Pot the other day I noticed the sign said "under new management" and was glad that the old tenants had gone. Previously the pub had resembled something you'd see in Bury Port in the 1970's. The following evening I was feeling daring and took my family there for a meal. We were really happy to find that everything was vastly better than it had ever been. Three courses were consumed - absolutely faultless. We asked about the food (my husband had had a razor clam sauce with John Dory!) and were told that everything was freshly prepared and cooked in house. The quality of the meal was astounding for the price, which we found average for the area. Will definitely be telling my friends about this place!

went to sunday lunch at 9.95 was a lot for what we had and the sweets was 5.95 as well so £15.90 for a two course sunday lunch na lot better places to go and better food

I understand that the place is now under new management so once they have found their feet things will improve. We went there yesterday, had a good meal, reasonably priced, very friendly staff. The banana and toffee crumble was superb. We will definitely be going back.

We were very disappointed with our visit to this pub. The cask beers were in very poor condition and the food was very basic indeed. No starters were on offer and only one of eight sweets was available.
The decor of the pub was very shabby indeed. The staff were friendly enough.
Only visit if no other alternative

THE LOBSTER POT INN FOOD IS NOT BAD GOOD PRICE NOT ALOT TO CHOOSE FROM BUT CAME HOT AND PLENTY OF IT. THE INN PART IS VERY GRUBY .
