Just come back having decided to have dinner on the spur of the moment. Staff are very efficient and caring. The food quality is good but overpriced for the size of the portions. I am underweight as my appetite is not that good yet I sit here typing this because I am still hungry! One I shall avoid in the future!

I take a group of young adults with learning disabilities to the Black Boy every month and have done for the past year or so, I have always found the staff to be very accomadating and they have always gone out of their way to make sure that the group have a lovely time. The food has always been of a very good standard and would recommend this pub to everyone.

I went to the black boy in killay on the 14th of may 2008. My husband purchased drinks from the bar and ordered our food (a burger and barbequed chicken with cheese and bacon with a side of fries and salad) The bar staff and waitresses were very pleasant and helpfull and I could not fault them. However, when my husband returned with our drinks, which consited of jackdaniels and coke and a pint of beer, I noticed a strange taste to my whisky. I m quite into sampling my whiskeys, and to me, the whiskey I had did not taste like jack daniels, in fact it tasted like cheap house whiskey. I discussed this quietly and privately with my husband, even though there were no tables behind or to the side of us. There were however a couple sitting in the far corner, that over heard what I was saying privately to my husband. Within minutes the lady had beelined for our table and processed to publically slander myself and embarrass me. This turned out to be the landlady. I thought it was highly rude of her to listen into a private conversation, and then publically embarrass me in front of the rest of the patrons for simply commenting to my husband that the drink tasted funny. Needless to say, I felt very uncomfortable throughout the whole of my meal . When I was about to leave, I calmly approached the landlady and told her that she was out of order speaking to me like that when I was having a private conversation with my husband, and the fact that I was a customer. Her husband and herself both became abusive and physical.
