I feel so sorry for wheelchair users in this muddled, shop with no space anywhere. Marks and Spencer are not thinking about their customers one little bit.

I visit the Holmbush store regularly and have become increasingly perturbed by the ease with which children become lost within the store. The layout is very distracting and there are no recognisable demarcation areas. Once a child moves away from his parent it is extremely difficult to see him through the groups of clothing rails which are of course above his head height. The children's clothing and toy areas are separate and parents are therefore crossing through the shop floor to get from one to the other. A particular area of risk is the large open doorway leading into the expanse of foyer space offering easy access to the Tesco store opposite. On two recent occasions I have seen children cross out of the store in a very bewildered and lost state. Both myself and other shoppers have had to bring them back into the store to find a responsible member of staff. I have also noticed a child who was clearly lost and distressed (again, other customers helped him to find his mother) and, he had no conscious awareness of his name being called on the public address system. Whilst I realise that parents are of course responsible for their children, the store does not lend itself to an easy shopping experience. I feel that you need to address the layout (also very confusing for adults)and take greater responsibility for your youngest customers. I suggest that you need to have clear pathways through the store, alert and available staff (particularly at door areas), an obvious and easy to find meeting point, and a less accessible entrance on the Tesco side. I welcome your comments with interest.
