I have holidayed in the area with my family before so had every reason to expect the location to be idylic and it truly was. Rolling meadows, beautiful old victorian farm buildings and the intimate festival experience that we'd hoped for. Our children fed the goats while we sampled real ale and real music as advertised. My wife tried hula dancing under the watchful eye of a visiting Hawaiian expert and I discovered that American roots music includes just about everything from country, to blues and gospel (even if it's courtesy of an African Zulu choir!).Next year there are going to be teepees to rent on part of the campsite and I have already put my name down for one!

The Maverick Festival was an absolute delight! If you hate crowds but love the festival vibe this will make your summer. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed plus you get to feed the goats and hang out with Suffolk Punch horses if it all gets too much. I'd never heard of alot of the bands before, but I was soon converted and had bought 6 cds by the end of the weekend. The gospel choir was an amazing way to finish it all up.
