This is a lovely summer event. I live nearby and for the weeks and days running up to the rally we hear these big noisy beasts arriving puffing and tooting up the lanes. There are about 50 steam engines, organs and steam powered tools. The sounds and smells are amazing and the dedication with which the people have restored these beautiful machines is admirable. There are also plenty of stalls selling all sorts of things from plants and bric-a-brac to tools and country clothing. I know nothing about steam engines but there is something fascinating and very nostalgic about this rally.
