This is a great place if you like a cosy traditional pub. They have an interesting bar snacks menu and a lovely blackboard menu which contains a lot of local ingredients. My friend has Coeliacs and was a amazed all their sandwiches were offered in Gluten free rolls, weve never seen this before,we were also told that most of their other food is also gluten free.I would definitely recommend this the food was excellent and the lady who served us was really friendly and helpful. The wine list was very good too which you dont always get in a pub.We will definitely be back.

We visited for the first time this saturday and had a great time. The atmosphere is cosy with real fires but the main attraction is the food, two of our party had the Northumbrian rib of beef to share,it was served on a chopping board,we all had a taste and it was gorgeous, ive never seen this done before.Everything was home made and they make a point of usisng local produce which is great. Its not a huge place and was very busy so make sure you book if planing to go.Apparantly its just recently been taken over.

WHat a fabulous Sunday lunch, great roast beef(pink) and perfectly cooked veg.We will definately be back to try the weekday menu. Our children were made most welcome by the staff who were very helpful.Dont go without booking though-the place was packed; we saw several groups being turned away.
