Just back from a splendid New Year break from this, the very warmest of hotels. Have said before and will say again the measure of any hotel are the staff within it and westovers passed our test with flying colours. This is a serious establishment in the sense that they are offering a very high standard of food and service - a bit of an oasis surrounded by much mediocrity to be honest - but not one member of staff batted an eyelid to any of our requests - normally centered around the needs of our small children. In fact most hotels of this quality would have probably banned children altogether. We found the food terrific (a tournedo and oxtail dish amongst the best I have had anywhere) and the entire break of the utmost value (both financially and spritually). Forced to give this a 9 out of 10 - our highest mark in the last 12 months.

Alasdair Hibberd writes "A fantastic spectacle of illuminated floats passing through the city. Music, dance routines and imaginative themes make this one of the best events in the country, and its absolutely free"
