we went to the rothesay hotel in highcliffe. we booked the highcliffe suite for my girlfriend and me to have a romantic getaway( the highcliffe suite is the largest)....thats what we were told anyway. when we arrived in the suite it seemed like the smallest room i had stayed in my entire life( and i have stayed in a cupboard)! i went for a refreshing shower but i got in there and saw the towel was ripped (there was only one towel in a two person suite) and hadn't been washed for decades. luckily i had some of my own towels so i stepped in the shower and i noticed i couldn't move for my life and the corners of the shower had mould and gunk on them. i turned the shower on and it was as cold as ice. i turned it up and immediatly it was as hot as mount visuvius. i stepped out so i wouldn't catch frostbite or choke on ashes from the eruption. me and my girlfriend were trying to get some sleep and we noticed a light coming through our wall. i got up and tried to see whyere the source of the light was coming from and noticed there was a hige hole in our wall. the light was coming from a lamp in the room nextdoor. we could see right through so we blocked it up with our ripped towwel( because is wasnt going to be any use for anything else) and light still shone through. the next day we woke up with stiff backs and aching necks from the mattrice with broken springs. we went downstairs to see if the breakfast would be the only good thing about are stay in this grotty old hotel. before we entered the dining room i went to the hotels public toilet. to my disgust in it was a big floater and wee all over the seat. i looked around and saw there was no toilet paper. i talked to lynn(the co-owner of the horrible hotel) and i asked her if she had any toilet paper in the hotel and she replyed " sorry, our next order is due in two to three days"! instead she offered me napkins. she had just been washing up without gloves and then she handled the napkins ( which were used for breakfast) and gave them to me. i immediatly said i will go in my room thanks then she put the napkins back. we were getting ready to go out for lunch in the five star lord bute hotel which is right nextdoor(don't know why we didnt go there in the first place) because we had had such a bad breakfast at the rothesay, i will go into that later. when we were just about to leave, we noticed smoke coming through our window which we had opened because there is no air conditioning in the room. we thought we were in luck and the hotel was burning down but it was just lynns pesky son george making a fire. we knocked on the window and asked him to put it out but all he did was put his middle finger up and tell us to "fuck off you wankers"! after having a divine lunch and a visit to the beautiful beach, we arrived back at the horrible inn. luckily it was night time and all we had to do is get some rest. in the middle of the night we heard a banging on our window. we looked out and saw george with his friend and he said "look theres the pussy patrol i was talking about". they threw stones at our window and made a huge crack. we decided just to go to sleep. the next days me wanted to have a lye-in because of all the throwing of stones and shouting. we decided to set the alarm for 11:00 but at 10:30 lynn came knocking on our door for a breakfast call. we said we didnt want it but she made us have it. we

I have just returned from my stay at the Rothesay hotel. I found the hotel relaxing, friendly and comfortable. The owners were wonderful and made my stay very enjoyable. The breakfast was excellent. I was by myself but felt really happy and not at all self conscious about being on my own. I felt anything I needed would have been sorted without making me feel a nuiscance. I would definitely return as long as Lyn and Michael were still the owners. Highly recommend it.
