The Old Surgery. Holiday Cottage - Sleeps 8. This lovely 15th century house is situated in the heart of Rye close to its famous Mermaid Inn and George hotel. Apart from its obvious period charm it also offers an unusually large garden to the rear. There are a wealth of beams in most of the rooms and for those colder days central heating throughout.

The front door opens into the 1st reception room with wood panelling and a wonderful large central chimney. There is comfortable seating, a dining table/chairs and a flat screen television and DVD player. This room then leads to the kitchen with fully fitted units, a large 6 burner cooker, fridge, dishwasher and plenty of utensils to make your favourite dishes.

The kitchen overlooks the garden and also has an open fireplace. The side door off the kitchen leads into a large passageway and then to the garden and utility room (underneath the kitchen). This useful room has a washing machine, drying machine, a freezer and plenty of space to organise your washing. The garden is large by Rye standards and is mostly laid to lawn. There are ample garden chairs provided, handy for the children to sit on whilst waiting for the adults to get off the trampoline!

A short flight of stairs off the kitchen leads to bedroom 3 which overlooks the front with two single brass and iron beds. Opposite this room is the second reception room/hall with an interesting built in 18th century painted corner cupboard. It is equipped with a small television and D.V.D. player and a number of seats (a great room for the kids to escape to!).This room also has lovely views of Rye and the open countryside.

Further down the passageway is the first bathroom with the benefit of an imposing Victorian style roll top bath, toilet, sink and a spacious separate shower. Opposite the bathroom is bedroom 4 overlooking the front with 2 single beds, again ideal for the kids!

Between these 2 rooms is the final staircase leading to bedroom 1 and 2.Bedroom 1 overlooks the front and is built into the eaves of the house. It has a kingsize brass and iron bed and exposed original floorboards. Off this room is an internal corridor leading to bathroom 2 (shared with bedroom 2). This is equipped with a large modern shower, toilet and sink. Bedroom 2 is equally as lovely and is built into the eaves. It also has a double brass and iron bed and a door to the internal corridor with the shared bathroom off it. This bedroom also has wonderful far reaching countryside views.
