Glengarth is situated in a quiet residential area of the old toon of Langholm. Shops, restaurants, bars and public transport are all within easy walking distance. Glengarth is also just s few minutes stroll along the beautiful river Esk to The Buccleuch centre where many talented and famous performers and thespians are regularly billed.

Langholm is ideally located for exploring the borders on foot, by car or public transport. We especially welcome walkers and cyclists.

Langholm, known to the locals as the “Muckle Toon” meaning the big town; was in days past the largest town in the borders. It is steeped in Reiver history and that of the textile industry. It is from Langholm Castle that the famous Johnnie Armstrong mounted his daring raid on Carlisle Castle to rescue an equally daring and infamous Kilmont Willie. Whilst their Reiving days are over the town retains many of those Reiver names such as Armstrong, Bell, Irving, Graham Maxwell and Hotson to name but a few, these days they welcome visitors to this very special town.
