The picturesque village of Tarbet is situated on the West shore of Loch Lomond which has been a popular tourist destination for many years and much loved by Queen Victoria. Little has changed since her day. The village is just two miles from Arrochar, which sits at the top of Loch Long. Arrochar is surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountain peaks in Scotland a magnet for hill walkers of all skill levels. The peaks are often referred to as the Arrochar Alps. Cycling is a wonderful way of seeing Loch Lomond at a pace, which allows you to enjoy the views and wildlife. In Tarbet you will find the rather imposing sight of the Tarbet Hotel, which has a history going back many years, it was a destination for the many Victorian visitors who traveled to the area giving glorious views South on the Loch and East to Ben Lomond.. The pier is a regular stopping point for pleasure craft on the Loch and is also the boarding points for one of the largest pleasure cruising companies on the Loch. Both Tarbet and Arrochar are of course on the West Highland Railway Line, and there are local bus services from Balloch to Arrochar and Helensburgh. Some of the activities that are available near to Tarbet include hill walking, sailing and pleasure cruising. There is a large picnic area leading onto the shore and pier which also has a small visitor Centre and public toilets. Within the village is a number of small shops and cafes. Guests can enjoy a choice of accommodation from a luxury double with loch and Mountain Views, or a twin with garden views or a super king-sized four poster bedroom with loch and Mountain Views where your comfort and relaxation is guaranteed in each of the individually designed rooms.
