More Information

When the Saxons came to Chulmleigh (about 815 A.D.) high up above the Little Dart and Taw river valleys, it was a peaceful place set apart from the rest of the world - and today this description still holds true. The countryside around our town has been recognised as an area of tranquility. Our roads and lanes are largely free from traffic; the air is crystal clear; and the starry night sky really has to be seen to be believed!

The Old Bakehouse occupies two buildings surrounding a peaceful and colourful courtyard garden. We provide three charming and well-equipped bedrooms, one double and two twin-bedded, including en suite showers, colour T.V., radios and hospitality trays. A guest telephone and laundry/drying facilities are also provided. There is a guest sitting room with a log burner for the cooler weather, well supplied with books, magazines and games.

Excellent food is an important part of any stay and we prepare meals to a high standard, using locally sourced raw materials. All our meals are prepared "in-house", including our delicious bread. Special diets are catered for on request.

We welcome you, our guests, from near and far, into our beautiful house: our aim is to make you feel totally at home, whether you stay for many days or just a short break. We are sure that you will join the ever-increasing number of guests who return to visit us time and again.

Other Facilities:
*Guest laundry
*Guest lounge
*Five local golf courses
*Riding & fishing locally
*Short breaks available.
