Here on 10 October 1802, was born Hugh Miller, who became a stonemason, eminent geologist, editor and writer. The furnished thatched cottage, built c1698 by his great grandfather, contains an exhibition and captioned video programme on his life and work.

The cottage garden was redesigned in 1995 using a colourful range of native plants which Miller would have known from his walks around the Cromarty area.
